Beauty is Skin Deep

“Likes and dislikes are like termites that finish you from within.”

The current generation or more accurately, the Gen-Z is so engrossed in believing what others think of them that they have forgotten who they are in the urge to impress society.

Sia was a very talented and beautiful girl who had a wish to bring a change in society be it from the minutest things to bringing and evolution. She started showcasing her talent on social media and slowly earned a lot of fans for herself. She was so engrossed in what people liked that she did not realize what effect she was bringing on the people surrounding her. She planned to first win some hearts and then bring out what she wanted to perceive. She wanted to be an entrepreneur with her best friend Zara and wanted to bring a change in the beauty industry. Slowly due to Sia’s audience, she could easily influence others to buy their products. Zara on the other hand was also very beautiful but she always thought that she could never beat Sia in the audience so was always suppressed. However, she was always down to earth while Sia slowly was soaring high in pride. She always considered Sia to be her best friend while Sia neglected Zara for her increasing audience. Zara knew that one day Sia would definitely realize her importance and come back to her. That day wasn't that far.

She started to care what people thought of her so much that she could not think of anything else. People loved how beautiful she was and that got her a lot of ego as time went on. But time does not always stay the same, she had an unfortunate car accident due to which she got a scar on her left half of the face. People who could never stop complimenting her were now scared to even look at her. She was extremely sad with what was happening and as her views went down, her co-partner, Zara’s views had risen like neither of them had imagined.

She could not think of what to do anymore and she started to wish that she had more likes and that hurt her ego. It was like an eagle’s wings were being chipped. Zara however was always grounded and she did not forget how close friends they were.

She consoled Sia by saying that beauty is skin deep. It is not what the outside looks like but true beauty is knowing who you are. One must not be influenced by what the people in social media think or comment about them and must always listen to their hearts. She then understood what Zara meant and that the idea of falsely presenting yourself is a waste, whether it's to impress or to hide your insecurity.

They then as a team strived together to help people like Sia and make a difference in their lives and those little things gave them immense joy. They also expanded their business and their new families who now believed that it is not always necessary to fulfill others’ expectations but it is essential to be happy in what you do.
