Children Affected By War

War. A brutal massacre. An armed conflict. It leaves behind misery and voids that can never be filled. Many die, some go missing, some are injured and some live, but are captured in the black and dark past. Children. The youngest, most vulnerable and naive. War gives them scars, physical and mental. Most children don’t heal as they all have lost people close to them in the war and they have to rely on charities and organizations that can provide them with basic needs.

During these wars, children don't only experience the loss of their family and friends, but also witness mass destruction, get recruited into armed forces or groups, abduction or kidnapping and attacks on schools, which compromises their education. Lots of times, they are injured and don't have access to hospitals or health care facilities. They get infections and often die due to no proper surgery or medication.

Some of the worst countries to live in as a child are Syria, due to the ongoing civil war, as different powers fight for control. Another country is Afghanistan where most children have been rendered homeless. Nigeria has the most number of children fighting in wars or being recruited into armies. It's gory, but it's the truth. These countries have so many underprivileged children that have gone through so much and this will affect them in the future unless they are saved and given enough help to recover mentally as well as physically. Sometimes, even help is not enough.

The long years of humanitarian crises and hostilities to gain control of a country has had a profound impact on the situation of children, across the region and beyond. Every child in a war zone has been impacted by the violence, displacement, severed family ties and lack of access to vital services caused by massive physical devastation. We should pray for these children and try to help them by spreading awareness. If we have the financial resources, we must donate to a verified charity or NGO that helps them. It is imperative that people do whatever best they can for them, because the kindness of the world is their only hope. Let's do our bit to help them too!
