Curiousity

Lisa has never been one to believe in ghosts or anything supernatural for that matter. She questioned everything in her life, which was a good thing to an extent. But some questions are better left unanswered. Lisa and her friends had all heard the rumours about their school. Twenty-five years ago, a girl had wandered inside the school at night, and apparently, she was never seen again. They had searched for the girl for months, but she was never found. There were many theories about this matter which ranged from her being killed to Satan himself abducting her. Lisa on the other hand was a sceptic, she didn't believe in these so-called theories. After hearing multiple renditions of what people thought was the true story, Lisa concluded that these theories and stories were just a way to keep the kids from creating any trouble. Lisa along with her three friends, Amelia, Jack and Daniel decided they would break into the school at night to explore and prove everybody wrong. Daniel was extremely hesitant to go and was absolutely against the idea of breaking in.

But with the help of a little peer pressure, he too gave in. The following night, at around 1:30 they all snuck out of their houses and met at the school gate. Each of them had carried a small backpack with things like a flashlight, water bottles and a few snacks. As they jumped over the fence, fear started kicking in all of them, but they had come too far to back down. They decided they would go to the basement and proceeded to make their way towards it. The route to the basement consisted of a set of stairs and the basement itself was guarded by two big doors.

Just to be extra safe, they put a bunch of chairs at the entrance of the basement, so that doors couldn't possibly shut. They switched on their flashlights and started exploring. Amelia's foot bumped into something and she yelped in pain. All of the others came running towards her, pointing their flashlights at what seemed to have collided with her. They saw a bunch of old supplies which included old desks, chairs and boxes. They all had never been to this part of the basement and decided to snoop around for a little bit. Daniel started sneezing manically, probably due to all the dust. This was enough to scare all of them enough and they decided they would go home. But, the door was shut. Lisa couldn't believe it, the door that they had jammed open and couldn't possibly shut on its own was tightly locked. The panic started to kick in. How could the door have shut? Was someone playing a sick joke on them? Did somebody purposely trap them inside the basement? For a while, they were just constantly panicking but decided it was best to stay calm and wait till morning so that someone would come and help them. They had enough food and water to last them and decided to go to the hotter parts of the basement. They came back to the area with the old supplies and saw a blackboard in the corner.

None of them were sleepy, especially not after their creep encounter, so they decided to play some games. Together they managed to turn the blackboard around and were starting to place their flashlights to face the board. All of them stood there shell-shocked for several minutes. Written on the board were all of their names and information about all of them. Their age, their family members' names, and their address. This was all too weird and scary now. While terrified, they all started calling their parents and hoped to find any way to get out. But alas, nothing worked, there was no connection in the basement and no way to get out. As morning came around, the town woke up, but the group of kids were never seen. Another mystery for this town to solve. Another victim that would be taken. Some questions are after all, better left unanswered.
