F.R.I.E.N.D.S

Friends. It’s been almost 30 years since this sitcom first debuted, and everyone’s still talking about it. The whole world shares the nostalgia of seeing this beloved show during their teens.

Don’t you wonder why this show is the best of all time? I mean, how does it never get old? So, as we all reminisce about the most adored sitcom, here are three reasons why we love Friends.

  1. Friendship and Love

We, as humans, have a special place in our hearts for affection and the people we love. This is what makes Friends so relatable. Watching the 6 characters go through their topsy-turvy lives together, reminds us much of our own ups and downs in life. The opening lyrics of the show, “I'll be there for you, when the rain starts to pour. I'll be there for you like I've been there before. I'll be there for you, ‘cause you're there for me too”, depicts the 6 characters who always support each other and have the others’ backs, no matter what. The main plot hit home and got us all hooked.

  1. Comedy

Its hilarious but relatable characters is one of the reasons Friends is so popular. We all laughed at the situational humour and, of course, at Chandler’s sarcastic jokes, Joey’s possessiveness about food, Monica's OCD, Phoebe’s strange songs like the timeless "Smelly Cat", Rachel’s crazy passion for fashion, and shopping and Ross’s love for palaeontology. And then there are the iconic catchphrases like, "How you doin'?" or "Pivot!" or “Oh. My. God.”, that we’d never forget.

  1. Life Lessons

Despite the sarcasm and humour that the show centres on, each episode concludes with a life lesson. The entire series teaches us to value friendship, never give up on our goals, take risks, and be self-reliant.

This series was definitely successful in representing the life of every 20-something person searching for jobs, navigating through relations and attempting to improve their life. It is a must watch and forever classic.
