Mission Mousetrap

“She stole again! For the fourth time in a row, she has managed to outwit all our agents and the police present at the dinner parties!”, exclaimed Teresa, a long haired woman in her early thirties, dressed and ready for action. “We need to think of a solution and stop her quickly.”

Teresa's eyes were suddenly diverted towards the mousetrap in the room's corner. A mouse sniffed around staring at the piece of bread kept inside. The mouse approached cautiously and went inside alas greed got the better of it and it was caught.

“I got it! I know how to catch The Latro”, said Teresa

A name meaning ‘the robber’, given to the mysterious woman who always popped up at huge events and robbed the host's house. Since the events were mainly for business, numerous people were present hence, the list of suspects did not seem to end.

“What if we plan a fake dinner party where the guests invited are the agents of the CBI? The party could be at the Kent Mansion. The Kent family owes the CBI after we put our blood, sweat and tears into finding their son. We could convince them to allow us to use their residence. The party shall be in honor of his family. They are supposedly coming to London after 30 years with their parents and spouses. Since they are quite an introverted family, the businessmen of London do not know them and no one will take offense for not being invited. Lady Kent also owns The Sapphire Jewels, so that should be enough reason for The Latro to show up at the party. The person except for the members invited shall be our culprit. Just like the mouse fell for the trap of the bread.”

“Bravo! Fabulous idea!”, exclaimed John, Teresa's colleague.

Rumors were spread throughout London about the grandeur of the party. The expensive silverware, The Sapphire Jewels, the exquisite collection of Rolex watches, etc. It was supposed to be the party of the century and supposedly there would be so many people that it would be impossible to meet all of them. The Great Dining Room of Kent was to be set for this event.

The CBI got together to plan this event. Lady Kent was more than happy to assist the esteemed agency in their work.

The day of the event arrived.

One of the greatest congregations of agents ever was formed with a strength of almost 300 people. Undercover agents dressed in glamorous, sparkling dresses and men in three piece formal white suits looked no lesser than rich dukes and duchesses. Not even the sharpest pair of eyes could perceive a sense of uncertainty. The robber had to fall for this.

At around nine o’clock a woman with a tall figure, blonde hair, wearing a long shimmery black dress entered. The click of her heels echoed through the silent hall for a millisecond but then the chatter continued. The mouse had walked right into their trap. It was time for action. The lady tried to mingle in the crowd but she was constantly in sight of the agents. She danced with various men and they chattered along as if they had known each other for years. Her cover story was that she was the adopted child of some late cousin. They pretended to buy it.

At around 12 o'clock she slipped away, but Teresa and her team were already present there. As soon as she went to the room where the jewels were kept a trap fell on her. The mouse had been captured.

The entire team celebrated the capturing of this sly thief and congratulated Teresa as the mastermind crime solver behind this.
