Skyscrapers of the Future

Presently on planet Earth, countries are competing with each other to make the tallest skyscraper the world has ever seen. These huge buildings are unique and different in design, having their own special features inside. One such conceptual skyscraper in New York City is called the Big Bend . It is said to be 2000 ft tall. This design was unveiled by Oiio studio in 2017. Manhattan does control the building’s bulk and density by its floor area ratio which means buildings are restricted to the square foot of the plot area. This design uses two separate lots on Billionaire’s Row which allows developers to build upto 10 times the floor area ratio. These skyscrapers also have technology to be stable at high altitudes while resisting snow, rainfall, strong winds and hail.

Another such skyscraper is the Sky Mile Tower in Tokyo, Japan. It is said to be 5577 ft tall. This mega project has been named The Next Tokyo to tackle Tokyo’s overpopulation problem. It will be built over the Tokyo bay and will be able to accommodate 55000 people over 421 floors. It will offer amenities like hotels , gyms, libraries and clinics for residents. This project could be ready as early as 2045. Saudi Arabia plans to make a skyscraper in Jeddah called the Jeddah Tower. It is said to be 3281 ft high which is made up of 600 residential and hotel rooms spread over 167 floors. Visitors would travel up and down via double elevators which even with a speed of 32 ft per second would take 2 minutes to reach the top.

Even though Dubai has the tallest building in the world, it plans to make a taller one called the Dubai creek tower to compete with the upcoming Jeddah tower. It is said to be around 3045 to 3300 ft high. The tower will just have 20 residential floors and will have 10 observation decks. It will have a single concrete column supported by a huge net of steel cables to keep it secured in place. All these projects are super exciting in the world of architecture and make waking up in the clouds to be an actual reality in the future.
