TELL ME

Once upon a time, in a small town nestled in the heart of a serene valley, there lived a person named Noah. Unbeknownst to Noah, a peculiar phenomenon had recently taken hold of his vocal cords. Whenever he spoke, everyone around him heard his words in their own native language. Most people found this enchanting, as it made communication effortless and delightful. However, not everyone would respond with the same astonishment and joy.

One sunny morning, Noah strolled into his favorite local store. The colourful shelves were filled with tantalizing goods, and a gentle hum of chatter filled the air. Noah picked up a box of biscuits, and as he examined the label, he couldn't help but share his thoughts aloud. "These biscuits look delicious!"

To his surprise, the store's cashier, a middle-aged woman named Aniyah, froze in her tracks. Her eyes widened, and her jaw dropped. She trembled as she responded, "Nobody's spoken that language in thousands of years."

Confused, Noah asked, "What do you mean? I'm just speaking English like everyone else here."

Aniyah regained her composure, though a trace of fear remained in her eyes. "No, you don't understand. The words you spoke, I haven't heard them in my mother tongue since I was a child. It's an ancient language that has long been lost to time."

Perplexed, Noah's mind raced with curiosity. "How is that possible? I'm not even aware of speaking any language other than English."

Aniyah leaned in closer, her voice filled with both trepidation and fascination. "Legend has it that our valley was once home to a tribe who spoke that language. They disappeared thousands of years ago, leaving behind only remnants of their civilization. The knowledge of their tongue was thought to be lost forever."

Noah's eyes widened as he began to grasp the extraordinary nature of his gift. "So you're saying that whenever I speak, the ancient language resurfaces? That's incredible!"

Aniyah nodded, her initial fear giving way to a deep-seated curiosity. "Yes, it seems that way. Can you speak more? Perhaps there are stories or secrets hidden within our past that can be unraveled through your words."

With a newfound sense of purpose, Noah agreed to delve into the mysteries of the ancient language. Over the following weeks, people from the town and neighbouring communities flocked to listen to Noah's enchanting voice. They reveled in hearing their ancestors' forgotten words and were captivated by the tales that emerged.

As the crowds gathered, a team of linguists and historians joined Noah in their quest to uncover the lost heritage. Together, they deciphered ancient texts, examined artifacts, and pieced together fragments of history. The valley was alive with excitement as the forgotten language echoed through its hills and valleys once again.

Through their collective efforts, they discovered that the ancient tribe had possessed great wisdom, deep spiritual beliefs, and a profound connection with the natural world. The resurgence of the language brought the community closer, fostering a newfound appreciation for their shared roots and inspiring them to embrace their heritage.

In time, the story of Noah's extraordinary gift spread far beyond the valley, captivating people from distant lands. Linguists and archaeologists flocked to the town, hoping to unlock the secrets of their own ancestral languages. The town flourished as it became a hub of cultural exchange and understanding, all thanks to the remarkable ability bestowed upon Noah.

As for Aniyah, the once horrified cashier, she transformed into a revered guardian of the ancient language. With newfound pride, she became a bridge between the past and present, ensuring that the knowledge and traditions of the tribe were not lost again.
