The Happiness Trap

Is happiness a real emotion?

Or just a fleeting sight, as life’s wheels take motion?

One can be happy, just for today,

But will this happiness last, until the next day?

Happiness is a feeling, to the heart native,

But alas, it is only relative.

Happiness can bring us joy all night and all day,

But losing this happiness instantly, cause even greater melancholy, that may.

Happiness is that emotion, alone,

Everyone experiences it differently, to each his own.

But do we choose what makes us happy?, is what I ask,

Or are we all just wearing a grinning mask?

Some find happiness in material things,

But do not realize that only temporary satisfaction, they do bring.

Some experience joy, in thinking that with their loved ones they will stay forever,

But even these relations and ties, life will eventually sever.

So if the reasons for our happiness, do not stay,

How will our happiness remain, in what way?

In truth, happiness is a lie, cheatful deceit,

A battle of fates, where our heart feels defeat.

Happiness is the whisper that we wish to, but can’t always hear,

It lies so far, but still seems near.

This fake happiness is nothing other than a trap which stops us from moving further,

We step in it so often, and each time, our heart it does murder.

To step in this trap, or not we must choose,

And if we do set foot it it, ourselves we might lose.
