The Reason for Every Event in History

A walk down the memory lane

Resurrects, soothes, and even pains,

This walk, however, is the only one of its kind

Exercising not only the legs but also the mind;

A walk down history’s aisle, is wearisome, if you may

For, unraveling the biggest social issue is a heavy price to pay,

How has man not recognized it by now?

For, its repetition in history is far beyond count;

Disguised in different fonts and tales,

the fact of the matter remains the same,

How is the eternal pattern still untamed?

when it is the victims that change, but never the game;

A majority vote decides the game in round

Ulterior motive hidden in every vote,

And lo! with an overwhelming majority does the game revolve

Around each player with attempts to float only and only their boat;

And so, each tries to drown the other

Ignorant of the peril to their own boat,

So was seen when Brutus stabbed Caesar

And repeated when the vandals invaded Rome;

Time and again, never failing to return

Seen again in the betrayal of Panipat,

When the British boot set foot on Indian land

And again, in Hiroshima when the bomb was dropped;

It is the unfulfilled need to feel superior

Which brings out the worst in a man,

It is this need which single handedly accounts,

For every tale in history’s hand;

Study the archive we have preserved

And I will challenge you to uncover,

Even one event in history,

That stems not from man’s desire for superiority and power;

When one wields power, the other is forced to bow,

Not through respect, but to conspire his own victory row,

This pattern is only and only broken when

Every player can, together, win this eternal game;

Games do not work like that, you say

But what if you have never played this game?

It is only when the power of love can overcome the love of power

That a new memory lane to walk down can be acquired.
